TLIF0005 Apply a fatigue risk management system
Overview
The TLIF0005 unit of competency provides learners with the skills and knowledge to manage fatigue and work safely within the Transport and Logistics industry. It includes applying fatigue risk management strategies, identifying and acting on signs of fatigue, operating within a fatigue risk management system, planning and navigating trips, updating and maintaining records, complying with work and rest limits and implementing appropriate strategies to minimise fatigue during work activities. This course has no prerequisites and the target learners are drivers, schedulers, and supervisors or managers of drivers or schedulers wishing to operate under NHVR Fatigue Management Accreditation*. The training includes 6 short modules and 2 assessment activities, (a combination of online and practical tasks).
*Being awarded this unit of competency is a necessary requirement to operate under National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) Fatigue Management Accreditation but is only one of the criteria. Prospective applicants should check with the NHVR before undertaking training.
Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

Overview
The Basic Level 3 Fatigue Management training is based on the TLIF4064 unit of competency and provides learners with the knowledge required to manage organisational fatigue management policy and procedures in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations. It includes identifying legal requirements, liabilities and responsibilities for establishing and/or improving fatigue management implementation plans, policies and procedures. It also includes acting appropriately on reports and identified breaches of fatigue management regulations and ensuring operational systems are compliant with fatigue management regulations and policy; planning and organising adequate resources and operational systems; and facilitating the training and assessment of staff on their responsibilities and fatigue management techniques.
Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:
- Identify fatigue management legal requirements and responsibilities
- Establish and improve fatigue management policy and procedures
- Act upon reports on the implementation of the fatigue management policy
- Act upon identified breaches of fatigue management regulations
- Ensure operations are compliant with fatigue management regulations and policy

CoR legislation extends responsibilities to anyone whose actions, inactions or demands can put driver's lives or other lives at risk. Any party who has management or control of transport activities within the transport chain can be held responsible and may be legally liable. If you are a manager/supervisor that has control of transport activities that do not directly relate to fatigue management, but may influence drivers, (or other transport roles) activities and/or fatigue management, you should complete this training.
